What is a design system?

A design system consists of basic components, such as a typography library, a color scheme and a well planned spacing concept. During creation, all necessary components, such as buttons, text boxes, dropdowns, navigation elements, and many more, are specified and designed so that they can be used recurring. During creation, it is determined how the individual components are combined to create a comprehensive component library in the end.
